How many of you think that our sun might be part of a binary star system?
I saw a program Recently on this theory. It seems that there are mass extinctions on Earth every 26 million years in a fairly regular pattern. The theory behind that there is another star "hidden" from our point of view …. probably a brown dwarf, which might be difficult to detect, and its orbit around the Sun blows ort cloud of comets every 26 million years. Some of these comets may have a collision course with Earth. Thoughts or Comments?
it is a very interesting idea, but I do not think looking for models between what appears to be fairly random extinctions sufficient evidence to substantiate this allegation. better to keep your eyes on the sky …
