Have a Look Around The Night Sky
As I began my research trip in the night sky, I soon realized the fragility of our human race is. When you look up there in heaven, like me, do not you see how small we are? Do you really understand the power of the universe and how exciting it can be? Come with me on a journey that takes you worlds away from our house.
Venture in a dark spot near my place of residence was sufficient to block the blinding lights of the city of urban life without end. It is good for one to sit and relax in the serenity of the night sky from time to time. You begin to appreciate the land more, even your very existence on this planet that we call home.
In the summer season if you look directly above you should be able to see a star called Vega. Now Vega is in the upper right corner of most stars in a constellation called the Summer Triangle. It is fairly easy to spot. On The next night, go outside and look up. You should see three stars distant from each other, forming a giant triangle in sky. While finding this constellation you probably now know more than most of your friends on the night sky.
I must say that learning the night sky is an adventure. Would you ever imagine there are so many stars only within our own galaxy? The excitement of learning is much more abundant in astronomy, then it is in say, math. It is a living breathing real object that we study.
Here is another constellation of stars easy to spot. Try to find four stars that form a square. This place is not an old place Well, it is the Great Square of Pegasus. It should be down closer to the horizon on the bottom left of the Summer Triangle. You may also notice two little stars sitting next to each other near there. These two little stars are called Aries.
Sitting there at night, eyes fixed on heaven, really started to make my mind to ask questions. Have you ever felt the urge to Learn more, know the answers to the universe? I'm sure you all. Looking up into the abyss made me feel something I do not feel every day of my life. It's a different feeling, a sense of wonder and joy. It is also a feeling great excitement to know that we are just a tiny speck in a universe that is composed of billions of stars.
Most people know the Big Dipper. I knew this constellation since I was a kid and I always find interesting to watch, to this day. Looking up the Big Dipper, you'll notice that it resembles a giant cooking pot somehow. It also has a long handle shape. This form of points to a star named Arcturus. Arcturus is a little orange in relation to other stars.
The two stars on the right side of the pan point in the Big Dipper in the North Star. The North Star is famous for one main reason: it does not rotate, but seems fixed in the sky. The Star North Star is also the finish on a constellation of Ursa Minor. The Little Dipper is upside down on top of the Big Dipper.
Our Galaxy the Milky Way is just one of tens of billions of galaxies. It is a spiral galaxy containing a hundred billion stars. To travel through the galaxy, it would take one hundred thousand years at a rate of five billion eight hundred million miles per year. The universe began about 14 billion years in explosion flames of energy called the Big Bang.
Galaxies that formed in the sequence are still away from each other at an increasing rate. Our Solar System is almost five billion years. Our sun is now in middle age and one day, about five billion years From now on he will die and our land will die with him.
Do not let this fear of dying land taken out of your hopes about the lights watching us. Always put aside a few minutes to contemplate the universe, which holds our own existence. With the excitement is an aspiration for knowledge and with knowledge comes the joy. Let your joy to a whole new level of life. Be confident and happy to know that you can name shines brightly on us. Then go outside and try to just how easy and fun it is to lay back and study the stars.
