With the use of microscopes and other equipment, scientists are able to analyze how these strains behave and what substances can help kill them. Without our ability to study at the cellular level, our world is less safe as it is now. You could say we're not really free from viruses, but you must admit that there is no bubonic plague awaits us around the corner. It is a big deal.
