Visual Books for reluctant readers
If your child is having difficulty reading, so they may be a visual learner and could meet to books that have more pictures than text.
There is no doubt that children learn in their own time. Some children may now reading fluently by the age of seven years while others may struggle with the basic text for a while until something "clicks".
The best way to encourage your child to enjoy books without necessarily compelling to read is to give them books that are spare or have visual an interactive element. Here are some examples:
Comics
Comics through a stage in the 1950s when they were regarded as the scourge of crime among children. Opinions have changed and have even comics. There are some comics wonderful graphic novels that can encourage children to be interested in reading without forcing them to read the words in order to understand the essential history.
In telling the story in sequential images, the reader can understand the basic flow of the history of action, from facial expressions and other visual cues. For beginners, or players emerging Departure titles like Bone by Jeff Smith or The Chronicles Dreamland by Scott Christian Sava. Both are wonderful stories with fantastic graphics very appealing.
Interactive books
LeapFrog has been in the game interactive books for a number of years. The LeapPad system was successful and their latest interactive system book, the tag reader, recently won the Toy of the Year for 2009.
Using a pen batteries "Drive" the system interacts with the words and images on specially designed books, not just reading the words, but also enhance the understanding through games. The books are available for younger readers, but also for those who have come late to reading and May are franchises like Ben 10 or Star Wars.
Both styles are highly recommended book for helping your reluctant reader to develop a love for books, even before they feel comfortable reading.
