Do I get a LeapFrog Tag Jr. or the regular for my 2.5 years old?
I debate on the LeapFrog Tag Jr. vs regular for my toddler. Why do you like / hate? Does it really help with reading? TIA!
My 2.5 years old had the Jr. Tag for about 6 months (she got it for his 2nd birthday) and I love it, but I do not like and I do not think it will "help read" … My daughter loves books and actually play with them regularly throughout the day, from me to read, pretending to read the same, or by aligning Room Room and walking on them like a bridge (go figure, maybe it will be an engineer? lol). Jr. Tag not played much with – she chooses other, regularly, books much more often. Maybe because they have more and "better" pictures? It will take books from his brother Tag more often than his books Jr Tag (not necessarily play a part – the books). The whole Jr. Tag is like a toy "novelty" in my house she will use for a few days, then stop using, then a few weeks later, it could fall on it again and use it for a bit. On the other hand, when we go visit family (a parking disc for long), it will use the keyword Jr. a lot. And if I sit with her, she will play with me Tag Jr., so in contrast to the effect that I was going for when I bought it, but it works well. (I would say the same for the regular budget Tag – my son uses a bit more than my daughter uses the Tag Jr. but he goes too obsolete) Soooo, in my experience, I do not think it'll be what motivates your daughter to read, but I do not think it's a total waste of money that my daughter does enjoy it, but not as much as books. But if you travel a lot, it is definitely worth it, it's amazing what becomes the favorite toy stuck in the car for 10 hours! Another thing to note, someone gave my son the "reading system" TJ Bearytales the same time, we have tags, and who actually obtained the same if the use does more than the label or tag Jr. by my children, and we have only one book with her! They, unfortunately, no longer does, but I've just looked on ebay and you can always find them and other structures there, probably a lot more money than they sold originally, but I thought I'd mention just in case you were interested:. ETA I just read your question and realized you have asked for to go with – since your daughter is already 2.5, I would probably go with the regular tag, it may be more difficult to master at first, but she will overcome Jr. soon.
