Leapster 2 vs Didj (Leapfrog..)?

My soon to be 5 years old, missing a hand held game and I think one of these – the Leapster 2 or didj. I wanted to know if anyone has had dealings with these two – I want to make the right decision. Reviews for both are mixed – some love them and some have had major problems. I do not want to go the route of a DS until it has more control over how it treats things!

My 5 yr. son received a Leapster L-Max a year and a half and loved it. He played with it for nearly a year, but has stopped for about 4 months, but pick it up again. My friend bought his son a Didj and she said she and her son that he loves. She thought it was better than a Leapster because she can see his progress online and he really teaches vocabulary, spelling and mathematics. The only thing they did not play much at all. At my local Wal-Mart, they do not weigh the same and Didj Gaming system. I think the Leapster 2 would be better because there are so many options on games and they also learn, even if there is no online option as the didj. My son asks DSi Nintendo this year, however.
